Our Story

"From an early age, I was enveloped in a world of creativity, thanks to the nurturing influence of my grandmother. Growing up, I found myself surrounded by her collection of sewing machines and an array of exquisite fabrics, all of which sparked my imagination. My grandmother, an accomplished seamstress who lovingly crafted clothing for her children, not only exposed me to the art of sewing but also instilled in me a profound appreciation for the beauty that could be found in raw materials.

As a child, I was drawn to sketching designs in notebooks and experimenting with my own clothing, transforming everyday garments into unique creations. My grandmother not only encouraged my creative spirit but also imparted her knitting skills to me. These early experiences laid the foundation for my lifelong passion for fashion.

What captivates me most in fashion design is the ability to conjure beauty from seemingly ordinary materials, to envision the extraordinary in the everyday. I derive immense fulfillment from seeing the potential in things that others may overlook and bringing those visions to life. My joy lies in creating garments that spring from my imagination, designs that are entirely unique and fresh.

One standout memory from my high school years in the realm of fashion was winning the evening wear category in a memorable fashion show. It was a moment that underscored my passion and talent for fashion design, and it fueled my desire to further explore this creative path.

My tenure in the retail industry profoundly shaped my understanding of customer interaction and their diverse needs. Working closely with customers deepened my empathy and allowed me to appreciate the multifaceted desires of individuals seeking fashion that resonates with their identities.

However, the demands of adulthood and the need to earn a living temporarily diverted my creative endeavors. The daunting prospect of success in the fashion industry momentarily deterred me. But life has a way of bringing us back to our true passions.

With a fresh perspective and a renewed commitment to self-expression, I birthed 'Machocake.' This brand embodies an exploration of individuality and a stand for acceptance in a world often marred by segregation, both subtle and overt. At its core, Machocake promotes body positivity and inclusivity through its size-inclusive offerings.

My journey has not been without challenges, especially as someone who grew up in an environment where my true self was not readily accepted. The experience of navigating my identity as a gay individual has instilled in me a resolute pride in my own individuality, propelling me to create a brand that celebrates the uniqueness in us all.

While my current creations may not radically depart from what's currently available in the market, I've intentionally started with a 'basics' collection to establish a foundation for my ideas. In the future, I plan to unveil designs that will not only stand out but also redefine how fashion concepts are presented.

Though my business is in its infancy, I aspire to inspire others with my unwavering dedication and innovative ideas. Machocake, to me, represents more than just a fashion brand; it is a way of life. My vision is to encourage individuals to embrace their innate talents and share them with the world. I firmly believe that individuality should be celebrated, not feared, and I hope Machocake becomes a beacon of inspiration for those who may be struggling to express themselves in a world that sometimes resists uniqueness."
